Following the release of his first album in autumn of 2022, songwriter Fred Dionne stands out on stage and on social media with his unique francophone country-folk-bohemian sound. With charm and addictive melodies, he is billed as the opener to Matt Lang and 2Frères across Québec, and gets to perform his first show in well-known festivals such as Lasso and the Fête du Lac des Nations de Sherbrooke. His first album Highways was notable by its singles Hangover and Highways which found themselves at the top of the charts and earned him WKND’s Révélation francophone prize as well as a nomination for Song of the Year at the 10th Gala Country. Written between his musical contracts and his travels, the album offers an insight into a young adult’s state of mind and observations when far away from home. He goes on to win a first Willie for Song of the Year at the Gala Country, then earns his first nomination at the ADISQ gala for Album of the Year – Country alongside Grande Ourse collective.
In 2024 and 2025, Fred participates in the Bloc Notes Songwriting Camp, where he furthers his talents as a songwriter. Then, following a road trip to Nevada and California, the songwriter delivers his second album Eldorado, an eloquent follow-up in his musical voyage. Mature and self-assured, this second project details the inner quest of a musician with a bohemian’s spirit, the natural evolution of his dreams and ambitions, and tells the story of some of the people he’s crossed paths with along the way.
