About Us

Diane Pinet is the founder and president of Bloc-Notes Musique, which was established in 1987. With deep expertise in copyright law and an exceptional understanding of the music industry, Diane began her career as a concert producer and booking agent for several artists, including the legendary band Harmonium, among others. Bloc-Notes Music is known for its strong connections in both local and international markets.

In 2025, Diane received the Christopher J. Reed Award, presented by APEM, which recognizes individuals who demonstrate remarkable commitment to the professional community, respect for creators and copyright, and significant contributions to the field of music publishing.

In 2024, Diane – Bloc-Notes Music won the ADISQ Publisher of the Year Award (Quebec’s equivalent of the JUNO Awards), an honor that BNM has received multiple times. BNM’s songs have also won the SOCAN Number 1 Song Award on various occasions, several works have received the SOCAN Pop Song of the Year Award, and BNM was named Publisher of the Year for four consecutive years (2021–2024). In addition, Bloc-Notes Music holds numerous gold and platinum records.

In 2021, Diane was honored by Music Publishers Canada (MPC/EMC) with the Lifetime Achievement Publishing Company Legacy Award, recognizing her lasting impact on Canadian music publishing.

The Bloc-Notes Music catalog is both vast and diverse, spanning genres such as electronic, pop, country, folk, rock, hip-hop, and more. Its songwriters have penned hits for internationally renowned artists, including Faith Hill, Céline Dion (on her multi-platinum albums Falling Into You and Taking Chances), Garou, Marie-Mai, to name just a few.

Bloc-Notes Music also benefits from a highly responsive and efficient copyright department, an invaluable asset for any music publisher, as well as a dynamic synchronization division. Bloc-Notes represents several catalogs, including the prestigious Warner Chappell Music France catalog for Canada, and artists such as Angèle, OrelSan, Zaho De Sagazan, Stromae, Christophe Maé, Aya Nakamura, and more.

Diane currently serves on the boards of SOCAN (and its executive committee), Music Publishers Canada, Studio Bell, National Music Centre, CARAS/The JUNO Awards, PAN M 360, and several other committees. She was the first woman to join the board of Musicaction and has contributed to advancing female representation within the music industry.

Today, the Bloc-Notes Music catalog remains a pillar of the industry, combining artistic excellence with commercial relevance. BNM continues to top the charts, staying true to its commitment to quality within a multilingual and diverse musical landscape.
