Writer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Fred St-Gelais has been immersed in the music industry for the major part of two decades. After studying music for several years, he began his career singing and playing guitar, bass and keyboards performing in local clubs in the late 80’s through the early 90’s, with various Top 40, rock and blues bands. He then decided to build his own recording studio and immediately started working on his own productions, arrangements, song writing and overall crafting – He was very active, producing and recording many independent albums in the local indie scene.
Fred became extremely successful with his works, producing and composing with the likes of Canadian Diamond seller Marie-Mai (Dangereuse attraction, Felix Award for Rock Album of the Year, 2008); as well as working with David Usher; Roch Voisine; Randy Bachman; Ryan Malcom, Melissa O’Neill,Rex Goudie of Canadian Idol; Gabrielle Destroismaisons; Andrée Watters; Alain Dumas; Les Mecs Comiques; Crampe en masse; Réal Béland and Hepatite B to name a few.
Fred also performed live with Superstars Sheryl Crow, Sarah McLachlan and Jarah Jane as the latter’s musical director during the last “Lilith Fair” show in Detroit.
Fred St-Gelais has also penned many theme songs for various television and radio shows, jingles, background music. While keeping his focus on songwriting and production, he composed theme songs for numerous television shows such as Instant Star, Ramdam, Kif-Kif, R-Force, Stan et ses Stars, as well as radio theme songs for CKOI FM, COOL FM, etc, jingles and instrumental ambient music.
