Michel Bénac is a Franco-Ontarian singer-songwriter best known for his role as the lead singer of LGS. In addition to his own songs, he has co-written for artists in nearly every genre, from country and hip-hop to pop and trad. He composed the themes for the programs Au Courant with Mitsou on RDI and C’est ça la vie on Radio-Canada.

The swinging and uplifting original music of LGS will make you discover modern texts, pu t into music, which will make you get up from your chair and dance. Created in 1999 by Michel Bénac, the group SWING introduces a new sound to the ears of Canadians, by transforming traditional French-Canadian song with flavors of American pop music.

It was in 2015 that LGS released an album of the same name and the success was immediate: “C Okay” found itself in the top 10 of Montreal radio CKOI for 18 weeks, while La Folie” was in first position in this ranking for 4 weeks (July 2015). The same year, LGS had the chance to offer a performance at the closing ceremonies of the PanAm and Para PanAm games, in front of more than 54 million viewers around the world.

With 5 albums to its credit, LGS continues to reinvent itself, launching the 45 tours series in 2018: two new songs at the same time, in digital version and on vinyl. The first single from the series, “On perd la tête”, set the tone, occupying the first position of the most played songs on Quebec radio stations for 14 weeks in the spring of 2019. The next single, “Thirsty”, for its part, was #1 in the French-speaking corresponding chart for 6 weeks (summer 2019).

In the spring of 2020, the Franco-Ontarian group won 3 of the 4 awards for which they were nominated at the first edition of the Capital Music Awards, namely “Group of the Year”, “Song of the Year” and “Music Video of the year”. These recognitions come in addition to 13 Trille Or awards won since the creation of the gala in 2001 as well as nominations at the ADISQ Gala in the category “Album of the Year – Traditional” (2004) and at the JUNO Awards for “ Francophone album of the year” (2009).

With the success of their latest singles “Comme les 80’s”, “Pyromane“ (#5 on the ADISQ radio chart) and “Tom Hardy“ in the charts, LGS is currently preparing its 6th album. Just like the rest of their repertoire, this new album promises to immediately make you want to smile, dance and party, to magically stop time to make you lose your head and give you an extra bar of energy!
