Le luxe

It is with great pride that Midnight Romeo presents their new album Le Luxe. Still rooted in dance-rock, this second opus is groovier and dancier. Elements of new wave, soul, pop and even classical music broaden the scope of the arrangements.

The band’s penchant for melodramatic nostalgia shines better than ever through dreamwave touches and nods to 90’s dance music. The lyrics, more personal this time around, are delivered with an RnB flair by charismatic singer Marie-Pierre Bellerose.

Le Luxe is at once hypnotic on Unbreakable Girl, festive on Lightning hands, provocative on Love spills and dreamy on Destination. The new songs crafted by Midnight Roemo have more depth and grab the listener from the first notes.

Bio

At the end of 2008, five friends and long time collaborators unite their talents for what will become Midnight Romeo. After a strong start and two Eps, they release Telephone, a rocket of an album containing 11 songs with bite and relentless energy. Shortly after it’s release, the band steals the show during the Ampli de Québec showcase at the FEQ. That performance, along with the self-produced album, leads to a deal with Preste and R-Management. From that deal spawns a string of shows across Quebec and Ontario.

A first videoclip is released for the single Lonely Dancer in 2012. The following summer, the band plays many successful festival shows across the province. Come fall, Telephone enters the CMJ top 200 receiving good praise and airplay from college radios down the American east coast leading to a couple of gigs in New York City. Midnight Romeo then creates a clip for DrLove with videographer Marylin Laflamme at the helm. The trashy short includes cameos from friends from the local musical scene.

2013, Midnight Romeo makes its second full length album. This full on indie project calls in the talents of Steve Nadeau as co-producer, while Olivier Quirion records and mixes. Released in 2014, Le Luxe marks the the beginning of a new stretch of shows. The tour, wich includes the Festival Mode et Design de Montreal, ends beautifully opening the Festival de Musique Émergente de Rouyn-Noranda on its main stage.
