What does Play the Angel mean? One thing is certain, they are neither angels nor demons on stage! Prior to Play the Angel, guitar player and singer Bobby John and drummer Rob Tremblay have gathered much musical experience on and off stage. Their previous group lead them to play in such prestigious venues as the Metropolis and the Montreal Bell Center. In December 2005, their group was selected to open for Bon Jovi. In spite of their success, the two friends prefered exploring other musical avenues thus creating their own band.

They recruited guitar player Phil Bérubé who had been present for a long time in the music industry with many french independant groups. Later, bassist Dominik Gagné also joined them. With his previous group NecronomicoN, Dominik had toured across Canada with the group Kataklysm.

His group had also opened for many metal icons such as King Diamond, Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir. For the next months, the new group put all it’s efforts into writing new songs. Play the Angel’s unique sound permits them to stand out and to be noticed quickly, allowing them to win the 2007-2008 edition of the prestigious Montreal competition Omnium du Rock.

The group is currently in studio with Éric Collard, renown producer who has earned many Platinum records in his career. Play the Angel’s first album should be released in summer 2009.
